That was a great read, I could relate to so much of it too. When we returned to Australia from Spain I tried to hard to hold onto some part of our lives there but sadly now 18 months later my 9 year old daughter who spoke fluent spanish has forgotten all but a few words.

We found music helps us to remember, we bought CD's before we came home and still love listening to them together

It was indeed another wierd encounter! The kids did not believe me that it was the sun and not the moon that was really blue. Thankfully I didnt have to brave this with you, all in the name of blogging! Love your wit and ability to capture the humour even when you are gasping for breath n scratching your eyes out! Wot’s next … storm season ….aargh!

Hi Vicky,
My partner and I saw them today for the first time, in country N.S.W. There were only 31 in the procession that we came across. Never seen anyhting like them before.
One of them, in the middle, seemed to get lost once they hit the scrub on the side of the road, I was going to pick him up, must have been a boy, us females dont get lost, ;-) , glad I didnt, after reading the info about them.

This is wonderful, wise words. I work with the expat population of young kids and I wish their parents would 'let them' not rush in to friendships.

It seems often parents are so eager for the child to have a new friend in the new location that they push their child into a relationship that has about as much in common as the Auntie in your story. Often the children who don't have great friends are the first to reach out to new kids because they have already used up the friendships and are eager to find someone new to connect to, unfortunately if your child makes this connection to quickly they might have attached themselves to the class clown or the playground bully. Then they are guilty by association and not too many of the other kids will want to play with them.

I agree - all ages need to take your time and suss people out in order to make good friendship choices.

I am really happy on taking my zumba class. Well I can say that "fun" is their signature .It's true that The Zumba moves are Sexy, raw, and fun, and once you get the hang of it, you’re definitely going to want to share it with a friend and I have already shared it all over the place!.Thanks for sharing!

Australia's weather sounds really sporadic! I thought that it was pretty much just sunny-days all the time (though; now that I think about it, that can't make sense)- it's funny what type of mental images we have about places we've never visited before.

Anyhow- I hope that wasn't too random. I came across your blog as I was looking at some expat blog networks. I recently moved from the US to Beijing, and was just wondering what other people's experiences were of living abroad!
